On My Way - badge #1
Oct 1, 08:38 PM(Edited to add the budget and packing because I am a slacker and forgot to add them here in the first place.)
So here are plans for my trip:
Destination: Dallas Texas for the Texas State Fair and the Dallas Zoo
Possible Date: the weekend of October 22nd.
Accommodations: The Belmont Hotel although they are currently all booked up for that weekend I have my fingers crossed that there will be a cancellation.
The To Do List: Leave home Saturday morning and stop for a breakfast of kolaches in West, Texas. Meet up with friends (Hi Judah) at the fair and see the sights. In particular I would like to see folk dancing, Jump! Ultimate Dog Show, Amazing Dobermans, BMX Bike Stunt Show, a milking parlor demo and the pig races. Additionally I’d like to visit all of the creative arts exhibits and the auto show. I like crafts and cars and animals. Can you tell?
I plan to have lunch at the fair as well. I’ve looked over the menu of new vendors (I couldn’t find a list of ones that have been there for awhile) and have decided that a Texas Steak Cone, Fried Loaded Mashed Potatoes and a Deep Fried Brownie sound interesting. I reserve the right to not actually try any of those things.
Dinner: Korea House on Royal Lane. I really like that place and try to eat there as often as I am able. I especially like the bibimbob and the cucumber kimchee.
If all goes according to plan then we will stay at The Belmont Hotel for the night.
Sunday’s breakfast: Cafe Brazil. Their omelettes and crepes sound fantastic. I’ve been there for coffee, once several years ago, but had already eaten so I didn’t eat that time. I was sad about it and have always wanted to go back and try their breakfast. I’d like to go to the one at Bishop Arts.
Then to the Dallas Zoo. I want to wander around and see what there is to see. Lunch will be at the Serengeti Grill, not because the food sounds good but because it overlooks the lions from the dining area. I think that it will be fabulous to eat lunch overlooking the lions.
Then home, hopefully arriving before dark.
The Budget:
Hotel: $109 (this doesn’t include taxes and fees)
Tickets: Fair $32, Zoo $12 (we get half off at the zoo because of our local membership)
Meals: $80 (I don’t know how much food at the fair will cost)
Gas: $50 (two tanks of gas at most)
Suitcase (actually backpack):
night clothes
clothes for Sunday
toiletries
a book
one project (either knitting or embroidery)
The Post Cards:
I’ll post a completed badge round-up and the next badge tomorrow. If you are still working on September that’s cool. Just let me know when you are finished.

That sounds like a great weekend, and I love the postcards. Of course, I also love Korea House, and dog shows, and fried food. This is an instant winner.
Nicely done!
